  1. A temporary government office or bureau established by the imperial court in the Tenryaku era around 951 CE for the purpose of creating and compiling imperial poetry anthologies, collectively known as Chokusenwakashū (勅撰和歌集).

Notes

The name Wakadokoro (or Waka-dokoro) is sometimes translated as the "Poetry Bureau", the "Bureau of Poetry", the "Imperial Bureau of Poetry" or, more rarely, the "Poetry Order" or the "Poetry Office".
