Etymology
Possibly related to the ~たい -tai ending in standard Japanese expressions such as おもたい【重たい】 omotai "heavy; massive" or ねむたい【眠たい】 nemutai "sleepy", which ultimately derives from the adjective いたい【痛い】 itai "painful". However, there is no differential implication of objectivity or subjectivity in the Kumamoto ending.
